Adélie

Adélie is a site-specific sculpture, born out of a desire to explore and experiment with a new palette of materials. I am fascinated by how forms and materials interact with each other. Curious about how the relationship between the two sculptures and their connection to space unfolds, I want to investigate how this interaction is influenced by the dynamics of the surrounding space itself. The blue sculpture, made of ceramic and positioned on the floor, is loosely inspired by behavioral studies and the appearance of Adélie penguins.

The hanging sculpture, made of carved wood and transparent organza, is accessible and treated from both sides. From a distance, the design appears to be applied on one side only, but is in fact divided and drawn on both sides so they complement and complete each other.

Adélie was shown as part of a two-person show at HILTIBOLD, Plattform für aktuelle Kunst St.Gallen, CH, 2023 alongside work by Isabelle Krieg. Image Courtesy Stefan Rohner and Bianca Barandun.
